POSITION SUMMARY
The WIC Training Coordinator will provide overall leadership and coordination of training activities provided by WIC and will assure compliance with federal and state regulations. Focus will be on ensuring program integrity and supporting quality nutrition services. The training coordinator plans, develops and/or facilitates all staff, including Registered Dietitians, training through various methods including but not limited to state e-learning courses, blended learning approach and in-service training to ensure staff have skills to in providing participant centered nutrition education. Staff will be trained in standards performed within the scope of their role including software application, customer service, nutrition, and breastfeeding. The training coordinator will also be responsible for assessing skills of all staff and will provide recommendations for ongoing training if warranted and will communicate these recommendations to the respective manager.

Qualifications
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Four (4) year college degree in Dietetics or nutrition related degree and preferred two (2) years’ experience in community or clinical nutrition education programs or completion of dietetic internship
- Credentials of a Registered Dietitian/ Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RD/RDN) due to being responsible for training of other registered dietitians hired
- A minimum of two (2) years of job-related experience
- Experience in WIC services preferred
- Certification to perform cardiopulmonary Resuscitation for the Health Care Professional (CPR) and AED through courses that follow the guidelines from the American Heart Association and Red Cross (cognitive and skills evaluations)
- Valid Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card issued by the Arizona Department of Public Safety for all specialty behavioral health locations or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment
- Prioritization and multi-task skills are required
- Competency in working with people of various cultures
- Ability to perform a variety of assignments requiring considerable exercise of independent judgment
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
- The WIC Training Coordinator will lead in the development of Local Agency staff training.
- Coordinate new employee training plan including:
- Complete all documentation and agreement declaration
- Mentor or assign mentors for new employees through completion of new employee training plan
- Verify completion of new employee training
- Providing direct patient care for implementation of WIC training plan, includes 25-43 direct patient observations and documentation.
- Ensure competency of staff prior to filing Certification paperwork with State office, per state policy
- Provide care and service to clients as a Registered Dietician
- Assess trainee performance and gives appropriate feedback and recommendations to Site Supervisors or Site leaders; provides continual communication associated with quality performance development
- Notify respective management of any persistent problems associated with individual performance or procedures that require enhancement
- Work with management team to design performance reports that can lead to actionable improvements in department and staff performance.
- Monitor and evaluate the quality and effectiveness of training and assesses outcomes of courses delivered.
- Provide technical assistance and consultation to Local Agency staff and other health professionals on staff training topics.
- Attend state required trainings and/or designated state meetings for Training Coordinators
- Assist in ensuring continuing education for staff enhances their skills to provide continual quality WIC services.
- .Provides direct and in-direct client counseling to improve nutritional status by implementing nutrition care plans.
- Completes tasks of a WIC Registered Dietitian as needed
- Maintains credential (RD/RDN) by submitting Learning Plan to the Commission on Dietetic Registration and will record Continuing Medical Education (CME) hours accordingly.
- Travel to all Adelante Locations

Physical demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to sit for long periods of time, is required to stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb steps/stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; smell; manage stress as it relates to essential job functions. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds without assistance and may occasionally be required to lift or move up to 50 pounds with assistance. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time when traveling to various clinic sites. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee may be subject to health hazards (contagious diseases, blood borne pathogens, etc.) when working in the clinic area.
