This position is responsible for assisting the Billing Manager. The primary role is for support of auditing employee work, processing timecards, maintaining meeting notes, etc. Responsible for assisting in coordinating daily work for the Billing team through effective task allocation and delegation of work. Completing reports and tracking progress, responsible for back-up oversight of the billing department, assist manager in relations with the health care centers and the billing department. Must be able to perform and or assist in all Billing team functions.

  • High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution plus advanced training
  • Minimum of three year of leadership experience and demonstrated high level skills in medical billing including medical terminology; EHR&EPM (i.e. electronic systems); payer reimbursement practices; claims and denial process flow in a medical and billing environment. Advanced knowledge of ANSI denial/reason codes
  • Prioritization and multitasking skills required
  • Must be well organized and detail orientated
  • Knowledge of higher medical coding through understanding of medical billing including coding and third party operating procedures and practices in an ambulatory setting
  • Advanced computer efficiency in Microsoft Office suite and experience in Electronic Patient Management Systems.
  • Ability to work effectively with staff, clients, associates, and the community
  • Experience with Medicare, Medicaid and commercial plans
  • Certified coder preferred
  • Valid Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card issued by the Arizona Department of Public Safety for all specialty behavioral health locations


  • Two (2) year experience in a Community Health Center
  • Bilingual English/Spanish Preferred

  • Assure compliance with internal procedures by monitoring and evaluating staff performance for quality purposes and maintain appropriate documentation
  • Maintain accurate time and attendance records
  • Assist in organizing and tracking staffs daily work activities and schedules and cover if needed to meet staffing needs
  • Run and prepare department productivity and tracking reports
  • Assist and support monthly closing of the billing system
  • Take and prepare all team meeting notes for managers review and dissemination
  • Be a liaison between billing and health centers
  • Participate with interviewing and selection of prospective employees
  • Assist in providing orientation and on-going skill development for billing staff
  • When no other coverage is available, provide personnel coverage
  • Maintains strict confidentiality; adheres to all HIPAA guidelines and


  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships and communication with internal and external customers
  • Assist with investigation and resolution of incident reports

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds without assistance, and may occasionally be required to lift or move up to 50 pounds with assistance. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.


Work environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time when traveling to various clinic sites. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee may be subject to health hazards (contagious diseases, blood borne pathogens, etc.) when working in the clinic area.
