Primarily responsible for grant, contract and project accounting including but not limited to journal entries, reconciliations, reporting, submission of invoices, audits, collaborating with internal stakeholders and external agencies, understanding budgets, line items and variances, and contributing to the success of Adelantes culture and results.

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting from an accredited institution
  • A minimum of three (3) years experience as an accountant or similar role
  • A minimum of two (2) years hands-on experience in full cycle grant accounting
  • Ability to comprehend, apply, and execute accounting tasks in an accurate and timely manner
  • Ability to interpret and apply grant terms, conditions and ensure compliance with terms and conditions
  • Ability to effectively and accurately manage transactions and reporting for multiple grants, contracts, and projects at once
  • Expert level reconciliation skills balance sheet, income statement, grant invoices, budgets
  • Experience in assisting and/or developing budgets
  • Demonstrated ability to perform GAAP Accounting
  • Ability to perform a variety of assignments requiring prioritization skills
  • Advanced level MS Excel Skills lookups, pivots, charting, adv. formulas
  • Ability to support and collaborate with various internal and external customers
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Accounting Software experience
  • Excellent business English, spelling, and punctuation skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality

  • Valid Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card issued by the Arizona Department of Public Safety for all specialty behavioral health locations


  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office
  • Experience with Oracle Cloud or similar grant and project software
  • Experience with NextGen or similar software
  • Experience with Paycom or similar software

  • Accurate and timely management of all financial transactions related to grants, contracts and projects including journal entries
  • Comprehend and apply allowable and unallowable costs principals for each individual grant/contract/project
  • Accurately capture costs in Project subledger
  • Accurately recognizes revenue
  • Weekly and monthly reconciliation of grant/contract/project revenue, expenses, receivable and deferred income
  • Timely submission of invoices, CERs or other grant/contract billing documents and financial reporting
  • Frequent follow up on outstanding AR
  • Preparation and distribution of monthly and yearly grant/contract/project reporting to internal parties
  • Regular collaboration with stakeholders on outstanding grants/contracts/projects
  • Work with finance teammates and other internal parties to ensure costs are captured in Oracle appropriately and timely
  • Works directly with auditors on all grant/contract/project related audits
  • Assists with development of budgets for grants/contracts/projects
  • Assists with organizational training on how to use Projects to capture costs correctly
  • Assists with administrative duties related to Projects subledger including creating and maintaining awards, budgets, amendments, etc.
  • Maintains supporting files of all documentation related to grants/contracts/projects
  • Ad hoc reporting
  • Seek out training updated information for grant compliance on a regular basis
  • Assists with other accounting/finance assignments outside of grants/contracts/projects as needed

Work environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time when traveling to various clinic sites. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee may be subject to health hazards (contagious diseases, blood borne pathogens, etc.) when working in the clinic area.
